Question 3 - Why does my business feel all over the place?

If your business feels all over the place,
it does not always mean you are doing badly.
A lot of the time, it means you have been
trying to keep everything going without enough structure, support, or clear direction.
Why this happens:
As service providers, we tend to build as we go. It just sort of happens, a client here a client there and a kind of momentum grows.
You try very hard to do a good job, keep clients happy, post online, price properly, stay organised, answer messages, manage bookings, and somehow still know what to do next.
It is no wonder things can start to feel messy.
When you are in it all the time, it can be hard to step back and see what is actually working, what is draining you, and what needs tightened up.
That is when the business can start to feel heavier than it should.
I was vey much in this position with my second salon, which floored me as I couldn't see what was happening until I seriously had to do something about it.
That's when I stood back and had a good look at things.
What is usually missing:
Usually, it is not effort that is missing.
It is clarity.
Clearer offers.
Clearer pricing.
Clearer boundaries.
Clearer systems.
Clearer decisions around what you actually want this business to look like.
Without that, everything starts to merge into one big feeling of pressure.
You can be busy and still feel stuck.
You can be making money and still feel like things are all over the place.
And that's exactly where I was, busy, but money was getting tighter, so I worked more, until something had to give and with 2 children, I couldn't let it be my mental health.
What to do first:
Instead of trying to fix everything in one go, start by looking at what feels most frustrating right now.
Is it your pricing?
Your bookings?
Your boundaries?
The type of clients you are attracting?
The fact you are working hard but still do not feel in control?
Start there.
The aim is not to sort the whole business in a day.
It is to get honest about what needs your attention first.
That is often where you can start to make changes.
